Medical Care PDF Print E-mail

Residents have a choice of doctors in the local area and they will respond to a visit request as quickly as they are able. If you live just outside the area of the home, your own G.P. may still be willing to visit you. He/she will be able to advise you of this prior to your admission.

We will administer your medication for you, or alternatively you may continue to do this for yourself, for which a lockable drawer will be provided. Your G.P. will be asked to review your medication on a regular basis. A risk assessment will be completed if you wish to self-medicate and this will be regularly reviewed.

We would appreciate the support of your relatives and friends in escorting you to hospital, dental or optical visits, although if this is not always possible we will endeavour to provide this service.

District Nurses visit at the request of G.P’s and the home’s staff.

A private Chiropodist visits regularly.

A mobile company visit to undertake eye tests and provide spectacles both NHS and private. A Dentist is available on request.

Referrals can be made by us through your G.P. for hearing tests.

Please let us know if you are currently registered with any medical professionals, especially specialist consultants e.g. diabetes, dietician. We can then ensure your continuity of medical care.

Should you be admitted into hospital, your bed will be reserved for six weeks. If your hospital stay is going to be for some time, we would discuss this situation with yourself, hospital staff and Social Worker, no alternative arrangements will be made without your knowledge.

Philosophy of Care

To provide a happy, homely and stimulating environment to enable residents to achieve their full potential, where individual’s independence, personal dignity, choice, privacy and their rights as individuals are respected in order to lead and enjoy as normal a life as possible.

To provide sensitive, loving and skilful care for older people who, even with help, can no longer safely live in their own home.

To provide stable and effective management within the Home, in order to promote effective communication and development within the team.
